About Your Teachers

Dr. R. Ibrahim Jaffe is a physician, Sufi Master Healer, and Spiritual Guide pioneering the APIIR-TB method of Sufi Spiritual Healing — integrating Western medicine with spiritual practice to heal disease and transform health and wellbeing. After studying many healing traditions, he discovered the depth of Sufi healing, which brings profound transformation of the heart and soul while addressing the most subtle and hidden causes of illness. To master this path, Dr. Jaffe apprenticed for 20 years with his Guide, Sidi Muhammad Al-Jamal, the renowned Sufi Master of the Shadhiliyya Sufi Way. Through this training, his own illnesses were healed, and he was recognized by Sidi as a Murshid (Guide) and Master Sufi Spiritual Healer, with permission to teach Sufism and spiritual healing worldwide. Dr. Jaffe is also the founder of the Institute of Spiritual Healing and the University of Sufism.
Dr. Rabia Sa’bura J. Goodban, DAOM, Dipl.OM, L.Ac., LCSW, M.Div. is a Doctor of Chinese Medicine who specializes in Environmental Medicine (similar to Functional Medicine), Sufi Spiritual Healing and Counseling. She currently has a thriving private practice that incorporates acupuncture, Sufi Spiritual Healing, bodywork, self-created flower essences and other modalities. Dr. Goodban is currently on faculty and actively teaching at the University of Sufism. She has also taught Chinese Medicine, Zen Shiatsu, and other bodywork modalities. With a Master of Divinity in Sufi Spiritual Guidance and Education, Dr. Goodban is also a certified Sufi Spiritual Master Healer, having completed the Master Healer Practicum Program at the Institute of Spiritual Healing (now, the University of Sufism). She also holds a Master of Social Work in Health Care.
Ahmed Darrell Forbes, MAc, LAc. is a licensed, practicing acupuncturist and a Muqaddim (advanced teacher) in the Shadhiliyya Sufi Order. He is also on staff and teaches for the University of Sufism. Practicing acupuncture since 2010 and Sufi healing since 2013, at the fundamental level, Ahmed has found these healing methods to be deeply compatible and synergistic. Both Chinese medicine and Sufi healing are based on the same inner truth: the Tao, or Allah, creates illness to provoke a crisis in the patient, and that health results from the development of virtue, or the praiseworthy qualities. While acupuncture provided the original framework for Ahmed’s healing work, his training in Sufism helped him to perceive and feel the lights of illness and health within his patients, and to rely on God’s qualities to resolve these inner crises and conflicts.
